Both jazz and flamenco allow room for improvisation, and that's exactly what the four musicians want to play with. As cheeky as a thief, D. Beer exploits the rhythmic and stylistic patterns of flamenco in his compositions, mixing them with harmonic fragments and improvisation from jazz. In their interaction, the Ladrones take some liberties and develop traditional stylistic elements of flamenco with a jazzy wink. This is how it is possible to create “new music” that does not deny its origins, but rather honors and respects them.
